  • Hidetsugu SHIOZAWA - Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and related materials

    Description

A fully funded PhD position is available at the University of Vienna. The project will focus on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and related materials. MOFs represent a class of porous organic-inorganic hybrid materials that are composed of metal nodes and organic ligands in various 1D, 2D or 3D frameworks. The project aims to seek their advanced physical and chemical properties such as molecular magnetism, quantum emission, redox reactions, and their applications in magneto-optics, optoelectronics, and energy storage.

The successful candidate will conduct experimental research on some of the following topics: synthesis, electronic, optical and magnetic properties, electrochemistry, applications in optoelectronics, spintronics, electrochemical energy storage or ion batteries. In addition, the candidate will learn and perform density-functional theory calculations to interpret experimental results.

The candidate will join an interdisciplinary research group: https://homepage.univie.ac.at/hidetsugu.shiozawa/
