VDSP fellows participate in the Belgrade Science Fair!

11.12.2018

Each year the Serbian capital Belgrade hosts the biggest science fair in the Balkans. A special initiative, to bring science closer to the people, organises free buses to pick up kids and adults throughout the country to give them the possibility to playfully get insight into a scientists life.

VDS-P Fellows Martin Kaiser and Deniz Mostarac, along with their supervisor Sofia Kantorovich, were invited to participate in the 2018 fair in November. For 4 days, they were introducing visitors to the peculiarities of ferrofluid and its applications. The  unexpected huge amounts of visitors showed overwhelming interest and riddled the physicists with surprisingly deep and detailed questions, which could be answered and explained with a hands-on workshop. This way, kids could be personally brought closer to the often abstract seeming world of science and hopefully guide their fascination to a science related path.
