Abstract
Tailoring confined carbyne
Confined carbyne is an exciting hybrid structure made of low dimensional carbon allotropes. In my work, I developed a new and reliable model to evaluate the bulk yield of confined carbyne based on Raman modes of the combined system. I applied this model to quantify the influence of various synthesis parameters and optimize synthetic pathways. Additionally, heteroatoms were introduced into the system via controlled doping of precursors. The presence of boron and nitrogen atoms was in the chain was confirmed using Raman spectroscopy.
