Matter-wave experiments with complex biomolecules are intriguing because they probe quantum mechanics in a new complexity regime. Hundreds of atoms are covalently bound in an internally agitated, semi-classical object and yet delocalized in its center-of-mass motion. Such experiments require novel source and detection techniques which have been and will be developed in our lab and shall be presented in this talk.

In 1886 Robert Bosch opened his workshop "Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering", the precursor of the later Robert Bosch GmbH. Since then, Bosch is standing for a vast number of innovations - reflected in the Bosch slogan "Invented for life". The basis for this success are the Bosch engineers, who combine a variety of different scientific areas. This talk will give some insights into a physicist’s life outside academia and emphasis why it can be fun too.
