Science is currently undergoing major dynamic changes that are driven by technological development. Every technological leap opens new doors, but no single discipline (let alone an individual scientist) can fully realise the tremendous opportunities for discovery that such developments offer. Modern science demands interdisciplinary networks of well-connected, well-educated scientists with a broad understanding of cutting-edge technologies beyond their own field of expertise.
The doctoral schools organise many activities in order to foster an interdisciplinary ethos within the university. One is the first interdiciplinary symposium Interscience, where the following world-leading scientists discuss aspects of their influential work.
- Prof. Pierre-Louis Lions (College de France) Guest speaker of the VDS Mathematics
- Prof. Seth Lloyd (MIT) Guest speaker of the VDS Physics
- Prof. Thomas Pollard (Yale) Guest speaker of the VDS Molecules of Life
- Prof. Asya Rolls (Technion- Israel Institute of Technology) Guest speaker of the VDS CoBeNe
The symposium is a joint event of the four Doctoral Schools, organised by the doctoral candidates of these schools.
Registration deadline: 30 July 2017
